The craft of glassblowing

From glass bulb to finished ornament
The Müller-Blech family, who stand behind INGE-GLAS® MANUFAKTUR in Neustadt bei Coburg, Bavaria, have been connected to the craft of glassblowing for 15 generations. With around 15,000 pieces from two centuries, the Müller-Blech family’s collection of glassblowing moulds is unique. In the in-house model workshop, the historic moulds are not only cared for and kept in use, but new, contemporary ornaments are also modelled.
At INGE-GLAS® MANUFAKTUR, all ornaments are mouth-blown according to traditional craftsmanship. Baubles, tree toppers and much more are shaped freehand in front of the flame by experienced glassblowers. For all figurative pieces, the evenly heated glass is blown into special moulds with great sensitivity.
The distinctive brilliance of INGE-GLAS® MANUFAKTUR glass ornaments comes from hand-silvering with genuine sterling silver. Each ornament is filled with a pure silver solution, which then settles on the inside of the glass. Up to 30 work steps are needed to give an ornament its finished appearance. The smallest details, such as eyes, pupils and eyebrows, are painted carefully and with a very steady hand by our skilled INGE-GLAS® painters. Each ornament is worked on by the same painter from the first to the last painting step, making it a one-of-a-kind piece with its own unique, personal character.
Every INGE-GLAS® MANUFAKTUR ornament undergoes a final quality inspection. Only once it has passed is it given the protected trademark, the Sternkrönchen®. This is the guarantee of mouth-blown and hand-painted craftsmanship from Germany.
